The all-new 2014 Toyota Highlander offers drivers a wealth of features and technology options while maintaining Toyota’s commitment to excellent performance on the road. Toyota is releasing three brand-new versions of the vehicle this year: Highlander, Highlander Sport, and Highlander Hybrid.
The Toyota Highlander is well suited to larger families with three-row seating for up to eight. Active families will be happy with the powerful 3.5 liter V6 that puts out 270 hp and the more ecologically conscious can choose the Hybrid Synergy Drive which pairs the 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with a high-torque electric drive motor-generator bringing power up to 280 hp. Drivers may also choose the 2.7 liter standard four-cylinder engine which generates 185 hp.
The Highlander and Highlander Hybrid both feature a sleek, progressive silhouette with a lowered roofline providing improved aerodynamic performance. A set of deeply chiseled fenders combined with wraparound headlamps give the vehicle a more aggressive appearance. The newly designed rear lift-gate is height adjustable and features an optional one-touch power open/close for easier access. A 30 percent expansion of silencing insulation coverage reduces road noise, and combined with acoustic-type glass results in a very quiet ride.
The interior of the new Highlander is designed to give driver’s a high-end experience, with premium fabrics, contrast seat stitching, soft-touch instrument panel and chrome-plated accents combined with wood-grain trim throughout the interior. For the technology-minded, Highlander allows drivers to choose an LCD in-meter-cluster Multi-Information Display in either black-and-white 3.5 inch or color 4.2 inch displays. Buyers may also choose to add convenience features such as Smart Key, Automatic High Beam Headlight System, heated and ventilated front seats, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, driver’s seat memory, and a heated steering wheel.
Entertainment features included with the Highlander vary based on the vehicle grade purchased, and include must-haves such as Entune Audio with XM & HD radio including a 6.1-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth phone and music streaming. A navigation system, anti-theft system, and a rear-seat Blu-ray DVD entertainment system are also available.
The new Toyota Highlander is designed for the driver with comfort, performance and entertainment in mind. With a number of added standard and optional features combined with improved performance and excellent safety features makes the all-new Highlander an excellent choice for families who are on-the-go. The improved gas mileage and lower starting price on all models make this vehicle an excellent choice for the more economically-minded buyer who does not want to give up the feel of a premium experience.5
