The Giugiaro Designed Ssangyong Korando already gives buyers a good value with its abundant space and excellent towing capacity, but now the Italian designed crossover is getting an overhaul. Ssangyong’s plan is to further increase the value of the Korando, while offering drivers an enhanced experience.
There are several notable design changes on the outside of the 2014 Korando, starting up front where projector headlamps are now standard equipment, as are the LED running lights. A slimmer grill and new lower air intake improve the aerodynamics across the range, while high end trim get a new set of fog lights. At the other end, LED lights are also incorporated into the new taillight arrangement.
Ssangyong has also spent time redesigning the cabin of the Korando into an interior that they call “attractive and comfortable ambiance for the driver and passengers”. The new dash is wrapped in soft touch materials and has plenty of built-in storage. Wood grain inserts offer a contrasting element inside the cabin.
The Korando feature a couple of different four-cylinder engines, depending on the trim level chosen. The top of the line ELX4 has the 175ps e-XDi200 diesel engine which is the most powerful of the engines available. Models equipped with a manual gearbox get a slightly less powerful variant of e-XDi200. 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmissions are both offered.
Most of the 2014 Ssangyong Korando lineup come with all-wheel drive. The system is front-biased, meaning all of the power is provided to the front wheels during normal driving to offer the best possible fuel economy. When necessary, the system transfers power to the rear wheels to improve traction.
Prices for the 2014 Korando in the UK start at £14,995 for the SE model and the top of the range ELX4 with automatic transmission will cost £21,495. The 2014 Korando will arrive at dealers before the end of the year and are already available to order.
